About

Critical Reaction commissions pieces from a wide range of authors on politics, culture and books. The editorial board is chaired by Lord Tebbit of Chingford.

Lord Tebbit of Chingford is Chairman of the Editorial Board of Critical Reaction. As Norman Tebbit, he was a Conservative MP from 1970 to 1992 and a prominent member of Margaret Thatcher’s government. As her Employment Secretary between 1981 and 1983, he introduced legislation that curtailed trade union ‘closed shop’ practises. Injured by the 1984 IRA bombing of the Grand Hotel in Brighton, he served as Conservative Party Chairman and organised the successful 1987 general election campaign.

Prior to his career in politics, he was a journalist at the Financial Times and an RAF and airline pilot. Since entering the House of Lords in 1992 he has campaigned vigorously against European federalism and remains a trenchant critic and political commentator.
